The majority of Russian companies (66 percent) expect China to be the country's main economic partner in three years, a poll among the managers of Russian companies conducted by the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) consultancy in cooperation with NAFI research center showed on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th November, 2018) The majority of Russian companies (66 percent) expect China to be the country's main economic partner in three years, a poll among the managers of Russian companies conducted by the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) consultancy in cooperation with NAFI research center showed on Tuesday.

According to the poll, the enhanced partnership with China is most anticipated by community and social services, with at least 80 percent of the sector having expressed such a view.

As many as 62 percent of agriculture companies, 64 percent of enterprises in the manufacturing industry and 72 percent of firms involved in retailing predicted China's increasing importance for Russia's market in the coming three years, the survey indicated.

PwC indicated that such an opinion prevailed despite the fact that this year Russia's trade with the European Union accounted for about 44 percent, while trade with China represented just over 15 percent of Russia's overall trade.

A total of 12 percent of interviewees said they believed that the EU countries might become Russia's main economic partners in three years, while further 12 percent said the CIS countries were likely to be Russia's main business partners in 2021, the pol added.

The poll was conducted among approximately 1,000 Russia's small and medium-sized businesses during the period from mid-September to early November.
