WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th November, 2018) The United States possesses concrete credible information about a possible terror attack against US facilities in in the city of Kinshasa, the US Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) said in a security alert.
"The US Embassy in Kinshasa has credible and specific information of a possible terrorist threat against US government facilities in Kinshasa," the alert said on Monday.
The embassy would be closed to the public on Tuesday and encouraged US nationals in the country to remain alert for a potentially dangerous situation.
On Monday, the DRC officials rejected the information about a possible threat and accused the United States of promoting "needless fear," according to media reports.
The political situation in the DRC remains tense years after the Second Congo War that started in in the mid-1990s and ended in 2003, as clashed I the country continue sporadically.
The internal conflict has been inflamed since 2016 when repeated delays of holding presidential election sparked tensions between militias and the government.
