Russia-Hungary Trade Grew 30% in January-September, Exceeded $5 Bln - Minister

Trade between Russia and Hungary increased by 30 percent in January-September and amounted to over $5 billion, Russian Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova, who also chairs the Russian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, said on Thursday.

BUDAPEST (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) Trade between Russia and Hungary increased by 30 percent in January-September and amounted to over $5 billion, Russian Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova, who also chairs the Russian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, said on Thursday.

"The economic aspect of our cooperation is currently on the rise, the trade between our countries is growing and in the first nine months of 2018 increased by 30 percent, surpassing $5 billion," Skvortsova said at a press conference following the commission's meeting.

According to Skvortsova, Russia viewed Hungary as a reliable supplier of energy and technologies in the fields of energy, nuclear power and transport engineering.

Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto is the second co-chair of the intergovernmental commission.

According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, in 2017, the Russian-Hungarian trade amounted to $5.37 billion.
