KUALA LUMPUR (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) The member states of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are motivated to develop interaction with Russia in cybersecurity, information technology (IT) and professional training in these areas as digital sphere is quickly growing in the region, the Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Alexey Volin said.

According to Volin, the commitments made during the recently-held Russia-ASEAN summit in Singapore are being affirmed by a large number of economic projects and Russia's partners from the association are interested in cooperating with Russia on whole series of issues.

"These are such issues as cybersecurity cooperation and professional training," the deputy minister said on the sidelines of the Ninth Asian Regional Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club in Malaysia, adding that Russia prepared competitive IT specialists who can write highly demanded sophisticated software.

Volin also said that ASEAN member-states were increasingly interested in establishing digital cooperation with Russia "because internet and digital technology are actively developing almost in all sectors in Southeast Asia. More than a half of population in many countries are active Internet users."

The regional conference started in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday and will last through Thursday.
