Maulana Nazar-ur-Rehman appointed Tableeghi Jamaat ameer after Haji Abdul Wahab's death

Haji Abdul Wahab had given three names to choose from as his successor

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 20th November, 2018) Following the demise of Haji Abdul Wahab, Maulana Nazar-ur-Rehman has been appointed as new Ameer (head) of the Tableeghi Jamaat.

Media reports said that Haji Abdul Wahab had given three Names to choose from as his successor after his death, including Maulana Nazar-ur-Rehman, Maulana Ahmad Batla and Maulana Ubaidullah Khurshid.

Haji Abdul Wahab had written his will on November 17, 2015.

Ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat, Haji Abdul Wahab died on Sunday after a prolonged illness at the age of 96 years.

Haji Abdul Wahab was born in the suburban area of Delhi, India, on January 1,1923. Later, he graduated from Islamia College, Lahore and joined the Civil Service as a Tehsildar in pre-partition India.

He had also been affiliated with Majlis-e-Ahrar-e-Islam in his youth.

After being inspired by the oration of Maulana Ilyas Kandehlvi, the founder of Tableeghi Jamaat, he went on to become Islamic preacher after joining the Jamaat in 1944 during the life of Ilyas Kandhlawi.

Upon joining the Tableeghi Jamaat at an early stage of his life, he decided to spend his remaining life in Tableegh (Dawah) and was with Maulana Ilyas till his death. He had however left his job later to ensure his active participation and role in the Tableeghi Jamaat.

Haji Abdul Wahab was stated to be a direct companion of Maulana Ilyas and one of the first five people in Pakistan, who offered their entire life for Tabligeehi Jamaat. Haji Abdul Wahab succeeded Haji Muhammad Bashir as Ameer of Tableeghi Jamaat, Pakistan, in 1992.

Haji Abdul Wahab migrated to Pakistan after 1947 along with a few other companions and founded Madarssa Arabia near Raiwind Railway Junction.

Based in Jamaat's Markaz (headquarters) in Raiwind, he was head of Shura (council) as well as a member of the movement's Aalmi Shura (World Council) based in Nizamuddin, Delhi India.
