Japan Orders 3 US Global Hawk Drones Worth Nearly $490Mln - Pentagon

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th November, 2018) Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $489 million contract to construct three RQ-4 Global Hawk Block 30i unmanned surveillance aircraft for the Japanese military, the US Department of Defense said in a press release.

"Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems [of] San Diego has been awarded a $489,924,430...contract for the Japan Global Hawk program," the release said on Monday. "The contract provides for three RQ-4 Global Hawk Block 30i air vehicles each containing an enhanced integrated sensor suite payload."

The defense contractor will also provide Japan with two ground control elements, spares and support equipment, as well as system engineering and program management, the Pentagon added.

Work on the contract will be performed in San Diego over the next four years and is expected to be completed by September 1, 2022, according to the release.
