PORT MORESBY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) The 2019 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit is set to be held in Chile, Prime Minister Peter O'Neill of Papua New Guinea, which has hosted this year's summit, said on Sunday.
"The next summit of the APEC will be in Chile, we look forward to seeing you in Chile in 2019," O'Neill told reporters at a press conference.
This year, the leaders from APEC's 21 member states met in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby on Saturday and Sunday.
APEC was established in 1989 as a regional forum aimed at strengthening economic integration among its members: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.
