Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) states' cumulative investment in Russia made a record-high $31 billion in 2018, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO, Kirill Dmitriev, told reporters on Saturday.

PORT MORESBY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th November, 2018) Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) states' cumulative investment in Russia made a record-high $31 billion in 2018, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO, Kirill Dmitriev, told reporters on Saturday.

"In 2018, the APEC states' cumulative investment in Russia has reached its all time high, coming to $31 billion, while this is only seven percent of the total volume of direct foreign investment in Russia," Dmitriev said on the sidelines of the APEC summit, currently underway in Papua New Guinea.

The RDIF CEO voiced his belief that Russian-APEC investment cooperation could enhance further.

"Considering that 31 percent of the Russian foreign trade accounts for APEC states, as well as a quarter of our exports, and 40 percent of our imports, we have great potential for investment cooperation," Dmitriev added.

The two-day summit started in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, earlier on Saturday.

The APEC is a regional economic forum that aims to strengthen regional economic integration among its 21 members: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.
