Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe discussed the intensification of cooperation between Moscow and Tokyo on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula during a Wednesday meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Singapore, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Sputnik.

"This topic was touched upon at the meeting," Peskov said.
Japan's Kyodo news agency reported earlier, citing its own sources, that Putin and Abe had agreed to work closely together on this issue.
