Florida's State Secretary Orders To Hold Recount Of Votes In Senate, Governor Races

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th November, 2018) State Secretary of Florida Ken Detzner ordered on Saturday to hold a recount of votes in the US Senate and governor elections as the results have fallen within the margin that by law triggers a recount.

Republican candidate Governor Rick Scott led rival Senator Bill Nelson, a Democrat, by 0.15 percent in the senate race, according to the unofficial results.

At the same time, Republican Ron DeSantis' lead over Democrat Andrew Gillum stands at 0.41 percent in the race for a governor seat.

The results are set to be made public by Thursday.

US President Donald Trump has already responded to the recount, saying that the Democrats are trying to "steal the elections."

On November 4, US voters cast ballots in midterm elections to fill seats in Congress as well as local offices including governorships but razor thin margins triggered recounts. Votes are also being recounted with respect to races for Georgia's governor and senate seats in Arizona.
