East Ukraine Fighting Kills 2 in Past Week - Authorities

Two people have died and another two were hurt in Ukraine's breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk in the past seven days, local authorities said Friday.

DONETSK/LUHANSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th November, 2018) Two people have died and another two were hurt in Ukraine's breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk in the past seven days, local authorities said Friday.

"Two service members were wounded between November 2 and 8 in the Donetsk People's Republic as a result of aggression by Ukrainian armed forces ... One service member died," a spokesman for the republican ombudsman told reporters.

Fighting continued in the east despite a truce. A total of 4,716 people died in the Donetsk region since hostilities began in 2014, with 293 people dying since the start of this year.

A civilian died on Thursday in a shelling by Ukrainian troops of Marivka in the neighboring Luhansk region, the acting militia chief said at a press briefing on Friday. Mikhailo Filiponenko accused Kiev of violating the truce 19 times over the past week. Over 260 mortar rounds and rockets had been fired, he said.
