US Forces Complete Participation in NATO Exercise in Norway - Statement

US military forces have completed their participation in NATO's Trident Juncture 18 exercise and are redeploying to their home stations, the US Joint Information Center in Norwegian city of Trondheim said on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th November, 2018) US military forces have completed their participation in NATO's Trident Juncture 18 exercise and are redeploying to their home stations, the US Joint Information Center in Norwegian city of Trondheim said on Thursday.

"More than 50,000 personnel from all NATO member nations participated in Trident Juncture 18, along with partner nations Sweden and Finland, bringing approximately 10,000 vehicles, 250 aircraft and 70 ships from across the alliance to the largest NATO exercise since 2002," the center said in a statement.

The commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force, General Robert Hedelund, praised what he said was a tremendous logistical accomplishment achieved during the exercise.

"An exercise of this scale allows us to demonstrate the global reach of the U.S. military and our commitment to the NATO alliance," said Hedelund, who commanded the largest US unit participating in the exercise.

All branches of the US military provided a significant contribution to the exercise. The Marine Corps had the largest representation with 7,500 Marines, the US Joint Information Center said.
