WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th November, 2018) Incumbent independent US Senator Bernie Sanders wins the race in his state, according to a CNN projection.
The former presidential candidate Sanders will win over his Republican challenger Lawrence Zupan, CNN projected on Tuesday.
Sanders was a top contender for the Democratic party's nomination and lost to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Primary. Numerous Sanders' supporters have claimed the Democratic Party skewed the process giving unfair advantage to Clinton.
Sanders has been representing Vermont in the US Senate since 2007.
