At least three servicemen of the Venezuelan National Bolivarian Armed Forces were killed and 10 more were injured in clashes with suspected militants of the Colombian National Liberation Army (ELN), media reported.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th November, 2018) At least three servicemen of the Venezuelan National Bolivarian Armed Forces were killed and 10 more were injured in clashes with suspected militants of the Colombian National Liberation Army (ELN), media reported.

According to the Caracol radio broadcaster, the clashes took place in Amazonas state in Venezuela on the border with Colombia.

"We found out that as a result of events in the city of Puerto Ayacucho in the state of Amazonas we have lost three our comrades, while ten others were injured," the Venezuelan National Guard said on Twitter.

The ELN, which is the second largest guerrilla movement in the country after the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), is estimated to have several thousand fighters, and has been engaged in an armed confrontation with the country's authorities since 1964. In February 2017, the group engaged in peace talks with the Colombian government.
