More US Voters Want To Send Message Opposing Trump Than Supporting Him - Poll

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd November, 2018) More US voters want to send a message opposing President Donald Trump in next Tuesday's midterm congressional elections than those who want to support him, a new Gallup opinion poll revealed.

"Sixty percent of registered voters, the highest in recent midterm elections, say they are using their vote this year to send a message about the president," Gallup said on Friday. "More say they are signaling their opposition to... Trump (34 percent) than their support for him (26 percent)."

Some 62 percent of Democrats are voting to show opposition to Trump while 53 percent of Republicans will be voting to show support for the US president, according to the poll.

"This year's eight-percentage-point margin matches the gap seen in 2010, Barack Obama's first midterm, when his party lost 63 seats and majority control in the House (of Representatives)," Gallup said.

Gallup noted it has asked US voters in each midterm congressional election since 1998 whether they will vote in support of or in opposition to the president. The latest poll was conducted between October 15 and October 28.
