Russia, Cuba Defense Ministers to Discuss Future Cooperation Areas in November - Official

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Leopoldo Cintra Frias, the minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, will define the areas of future military cooperation between the two nations during their talks that are scheduled for the second half of November in Russia, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov told reporters on Friday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd November, 2018) Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Leopoldo Cintra Frias, the minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, will define the areas of future military cooperation between the two nations during their talks that are scheduled for the second half of November in Russia, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov told reporters on Friday.

"[Shoigu and Frias] are going to define the prospective areas of cooperation for the near future," Borisov told reporters.

Commenting on the recently emerged media reports that Russia may give a loan to Cuba so that it could re-equip its military, Borisov added that this matter would also be discussed.

On Friday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel started his official visit to Russia for talks on a number of issues, including defense industry cooperation, with Shoigu, Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and speakers of both houses of the Russian parliament.
