Trump has highlighted the issues of immigration and border security repeatedly over the past few days in what most observers say is an attempt to garner support for his party in the upcoming midterm elections on November 6.
The president is sending 5,000 military personnel to the US-Mexico border as a caravan of migrants moves toward the area, but has said he could increase the number of troops to 15,000.
