The Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, held its second meeting for this year, chaired by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 31st Oct, 2018) The Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, held its second meeting for this year, chaired by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The meeting reviewed Suqia’s humanitarian efforts during the second and third quarters in the Year of Zayed as part of its efforts to provide drinking water to the needy around the world, as well as Suqia’s projects and initiatives implemented in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, the UAE Red Crescent Authority, and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA.

"Suqia’s humanitarian projects and initiatives are especially important during the Year of Zayed as we remember the efforts of our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundations of humanitarian and voluntary work in the UAE. Sheikh Zayed consolidated the principles of humanitarian work and volunteerism in the hearts of Emiratis and extended a helping hand to the needy all over the world. In all our work, we are guided by the vision of our wise leadership who follow the late Sheikh Zayed’s path of giving and support the needy anywhere around the world," Al Tayer said.

Al Tayer noted that the board discussed Suqia’s project in the past months and approved the second set of projects that will be implemented during the Year of Zayed, in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment.

These projects are part of the "100 Water Projects" initiative for 120,000 people in 12 countries, and "Suqia Zayed" which benefitted around 390,000 people during the Holy Month of Ramadan in 13 countries. Suqia also provided 14 local charities with 8.1 million water cups for those fasting during the Holy Month. Last June, Suqia organised a voluntary campaign to implement developmental and operational projects in Uganda in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment and another journey to Upper Egypt in September under the theme of "Ayadi Zayed" with the participation of volunteers from DEWA.

Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi noted that Suqia received messages from the public directed to the late Sheikh Zayed, as part of the "100 Letters to Zayed" initiative, during its participation at the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition, WETEX 2018, which was organised by DEWA. Visitors shared their messages about the impact the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan left in their lives. Suqia will compile these messages and publish them on social media platforms and in a book titled "Letters to Zayed" by the end of the year.

Al Shamsi said that 70 volunteers participated in Suqia’s trips and activities so far this year as part of the 100 volunteers initiative, which aims to consolidate the values of volunteerism and humanitarian work among the youth.
