Authorities Intercept Another Suspicious Package Sent to CNN in Atlanta - Statement

Authorities intercepted a suspicious package sent to CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, CNN President Jeff Zucker said in a statement on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th October, 2018) Authorities intercepted a suspicious package sent to CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, CNN President Jeff Zucker said in a statement on Monday.

"This morning, another suspicious package addressed to CNN was intercepted at an Atlanta post office," Zucker said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a statement on Monday the contents of the parcel mailed to Atlanta were similar to the previous envelope with an explosive device and white powder received by CNN's New York office last week.

"The FBI has confirmed a package has been recovered in Atlanta, similar in appearance to the others, addressed to CNN," the agency said on Twitter.

Zucker said all mail for the network's domestic bureaus is being delivered to off-site facilities for screening, so even if the package had left the post office, it would not have arrived at the CNN Center.

On Friday, FBI Director Christopher Wray announced the arrest of Cesar Sayoc of Florida in connection with at least 13 packages containing explosives that were sent to former and current officials, as well as CNN's office in New York City. Wray warned that more packages could still be in transit.

The other targets of the explosive devices are all Trump critics, including billionaire liberal donor George Soros, former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former intelligence chief James Clapper, among others.
