US, Japan Begin Three-Day Security, Defense Cooperation Dialogue - State Dept.

The United States and Japan opened a three-day security and defense dialogue on ensuring stability in Northeast Asia by deterring regional foes, the Department of State announced in a press release on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th October, 2018) The United States and Japan opened a three-day security and defense dialogue on ensuring stability in Northeast Asia by deterring regional foes, the Department of State announced in a press release on Monday.

"The EDD [Extended Deterrence Dialogue] provides an opportunity for the two governments to frankly exchange views on how to maintain and strengthen deterrence as part of their security and defense cooperation," the release said.

The October 29-31 EDD marks the latest in a series of discussions of deterrence within the US-Japan alliance, which have been held on a regular basis since 2010, the release added.
