Channel One Russia Broadcaster Says Would Consider Megyn Kelly's Job Application

The invitation of Channel One Russia anchor and top manager Kirill Kleimyonov to famous US TV host Megyn Kelly to work with him was ironic, however, the broadcaster is ready to consider her CV if she applies, the channel's spokesperson told Sputnik on Saturday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th October, 2018) The invitation of Channel One Russia anchor and top manager Kirill Kleimyonov to famous US tv host Megyn Kelly to work with him was ironic, however, the broadcaster is ready to consider her CV if she applies, the channel's spokesperson told Sputnik on Saturday.

During his Vremya evening show on Friday, Kleimyonov, who also the broadcaster's deputy general director and head of the information programs directorate, invited Kelly, who was recently fired by the NBC broadcaster over her controversial defense of blackface Halloween costumes on air, to become his co-host.

"This, of course, was ironic. But if we receive Megyn Kelly's CV, we promise to consider it," the spokesperson said.

Earlier in the week, media reported that Kelly had been dismissed by the NBC over her "racist remarks." During her Megyn Kelly Today show, she defended the so-called "blackface" theatrical makeup, which is a caricature image of a black man's face. According to media reports, the NBC may have to pay Kelly up to $69 million for terminating the contract.

The CNN broadcaster reported that the NBC was negotiating with Kelly the possible settlement. On Friday, the NBC news confirmed that Kelly would not participate in the next episodes of the morning show.

Kelly, 46, has been a vocal critic of the US President Donald Trump. In June 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave Kelly an interview on Russian-US relations and accusations against Russia of "interference in US elections," something refuted both in the White House and in the Kremlin.
