Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that the country would send its first astronaut to space in 2022 with China's help, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th October, 2018) Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that the country would send its first astronaut to space in 2022 with China's help, local media reported.

The announcement was made ahead of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Beijing.

According to The Nation newspaper, the agreement on the first Pakistani astronaut's flight to space was signed between Pakistan's Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

Pakistan and China have been developing cooperation in various areas for decades. Earlier this year, Pakistan placed its two satellites into orbit using a Chinese launch vehicle.
