DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 24th Oct, 2018) The first week of the Dubai sports Council’s Football Academies Championship kicked off with matches being played across the Emirate at Dubai Sports City, Al Wasl Club and Shabab al Ahli Club.

While Al Wasl Club, Spanish Soccer Schools and Barca academy all had outstanding performances, the top matches of the week were played between du LaLiga HPC and Dubai City FC in the U-18 category.

In the U-18 category, LaLiga HPC dominated a full-strength Dubai City FC squad, consistently finding their way through the defences of the opponents. The first goal came from little ahead of the half-way line, when Barbood Mazloumian crossed the ball in, and it found Faris Nael on the second post, who tapped the first goal neatly into the bottom corner in the 13th minute.

The second goal came when Sami Samera played a through ball of perfection to Lotfi, who calmly finished the goal by chipping it over the keeper in the 27th minute, ending the second half with a comfortable two-goal lead.

The second half opened with Mazloumian kicking in a screaming goal from outside of the penalty box that found the top-hand corner of the goal in the 9th minute. City FC fired back with a nicely played goal coming in from their left winger Carl Accad, who converted it with a powerful shot that found the back of the net. It was a case of too little too late as du LaLiga HPC won the match 3-1.

The U-16 match-up of the week featured one of DSCAC’s new academies, Foxes Sport Academy, against local side Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai Club at Dubai Sports City. The match had a close finish, with local side Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai coming out on top when No. 9 Omar Mohamad Qassim Sebaie scored in the 70th minute to finish the game 3-4 for Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai.

The inaugural day of the third edition for DSCAC witnessed some good-quality football. Academies such as Spanish Soccer Schools, Barca Academy Dubai, Talented FA, Al Wasl Club, Alliance, AS Roma and others set the stage for an exciting season of football here in the UAE.

The Dubai Sports Council Football Academies Championship, which is the largest of its kind, has expanded this year to include 100 teams and 2,300 participating players.
