National Centre for Meteorology launches marine weather service

The National Centre of Meteorology, NCM, launched the portal http://albahar.ncm.ae, to provide marine weather updates and warnings.

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 22nd Oct, 2018) The National Centre of Meteorology, NCM, launched the portal http://albahar.ncm.ae, to provide marine weather updates and warnings.

The portal, launched in both Arabic and English languages, will provide specific information on weather for the upcoming five days with numerical model maps, including updates on the wind, wave height and direction, and sea temperature, besides the general marine forecast for the upcoming three days in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

It will provide statistical information through numerical models in the form of tables and graphs showing the wave height, speed and direction of the wind, and heat and humidity. In addition to these, it will provide information on the tides and movement of the sun and moon.

It includes real-time data through observations of the coastal marine weather stations, weather buoys and coastal automatic weather station. It includes radar and satellites images updated every 15 minutes. It includes real-time forecast to keep track of the tropical cyclones through the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centres, besides posting the studies of the NCM on important tropical cyclones affecting the country, as well as its video reports. The portal will present a weather warning map showing the locations and timing of these warnings.
