3-day Int'l Conference On 'Linguistic Research In Multilingual Contexts' Ends At Fatima Jinnah Women University

The 3-day 4th international conference of the Linguistic Association of Pakistan (ICLAP 2018) on 'Linguistic Research in Multilingual Contexts' on Thursday ended on the note that the mother language education was a key to social development and academia should come forward and work with the industry to maintain the local languages in Pakistan.
RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Oct, 2018 ) :The 3-day 4th international conference of the Linguistic Association of Pakistan (ICLAP 2018) on 'Linguistic Research in Multilingual Contexts' on Thursday ended on the note that the mother language education was a key to social development and academia should come forward and work with the industry to maintain the local languages in Pakistan.
The conference was organized by the Department of English of Fatima Jinnah Women University in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan from Oct 18- 20.
Addressing the closing ceremony, chief guest Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana said ICLAP was a unique platform in the country which brought researchers and practitioners from across the globe together to exchange the research work and developments pertaining to languages.
Such types of conferences were vital to highlight the importance of linguistics and cultures transversely in the world, globe.
FJWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir, who was the guest of honour, said their focus at the FJWU was to serve the purpose of sharing the knowledge and they were pleased to collaborate with LAP and HEC for organizing ICLAP. She presented souvenirs to the guests.
Earlier, Dr Sarwet Rasul, Chairperson English Department, gave an overview of the 3-day conference, which featured plenary speeches, oral and poster presentations, research work presentations, workshops/tutorials, invited talks and panel discussions.
Researchers from all over the country and experts from the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia, Turkey and Lebanon participated as key note and plenary speakers.
