Pakistan Peoples Party central leader and former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday stressed the need for promoting book reading habit among the people.

Knowledge was power as being be a man of letters was a great honour, he said taking to newsmen during his visit to the 'Book Mela' organized by a pharmaceutical company here at a hotel.
He said he had a library at his home.
Responding to a question, Gilani said it was it was prerogative of the government to approach the International Monetary Fund for a bailout package.
About the South Punjab province, Gilani he said there was a constitutional way for the creation of a province. During the PPP regime, the government had got passed a resolution in the Senate but the then opposition did not support the PPP in its efforts to make the South Punjab province, he added.
Gilani also took round of various stalls and appreciated the efforts of the pharmaceutical company for promoting book reading culture.
The company's representative, Mazhar Abbas, while talking to APP, said the 'Book Mela' was aimed at reviving the culture of book reading.
