Four people may still be trapped under debris after a blast at a fireworks plant near St.Petersburg in Russia, the regional emergency chief said Friday.

ST.PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th October, 2018) Four people may still be trapped under debris after a blast at a fireworks plant near St.Petersburg in Russia, the regional emergency chief said Friday.

The explosion is believed to have hit a room where pyrotechnic compositions were produced. Rescuers found two bodies. Three survivors were hospitalized.

"Rescuers are searching the debris with dogs for more survivors... We think there can be up to four people trapped," Yevgeny Daineko told reporters.

He said up to seven employees could have been on the premises when the explosion occurred. Over 200 rescuers are combing the site for traces of their presence.

The blast left 80 houses in the area without power for hours. Electricity supply to all 300 users was restored in the evening, the local utility company said. Alexander Drozdenko, the regional governor, said authorities would compensate damage to affected houses.
