Thousands Sign Petition Calling on US to Sanction Saudi Arabia - Activist

American peace activists will deliver a petition to the State Department calling on the US administration to sanction Saudi Arabia over journalist Khashoggi's disappearance, Code Pink's Medea Benjamin, an organizer of the protest told Sputnik on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th October, 2018) American peace activists will deliver a petition to the State Department calling on the US administration to sanction Saudi Arabia over journalist Khashoggi's disappearance, Code Pink's Medea Benjamin, an organizer of the protest told Sputnik on Friday.

"We have thousands of signatures on the petition," Benjamin said." The petition is a call for sanctions and accountability, and for the State Department to start immediately implementing those."

The activist spoke to Sputnik at the rally that is currently taking place in front of the White House. Protesters are holding banners that read: No More Weapons to Saudi, Justice for Jamal, Stop Support to Repressive Regimes.

"We are here as Code Pink because it's been over two weeks now and we feel like the White House has been trying to do everything it can to hide this over," she said. "We are disgusted by it. We are to say time is up, time for sanctions, time for actions on the part of the White House, part of the State Department. We want to see some accountability."

Benjamin said they will next march to the State Department and plan to arrive there at around 1 p.m. and will stay there for about 40 minutes, and will end their rally at the Saudi Arabian embassy. The organizer said they expect dozens of people to join the rally.
