UAE participates in World Volunteer Conference in Germany

AUGSBURG, Germany, (Pakistan Point News - 19th Oct, 2018) A delegation from various voluntary organisations in the UAE, headed by Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, is participating in the 25th World Volunteer Conference, of the International Association for Volunteer Efforts, IAVE, in Augsburg, Germany.

The UAE delegation includes a number of leading voluntary organisations, including Emirates Foundation, Emirates Red Crescent, and Dubai Cares, as well as a number of volunteers. The event will announce the winning city hosting the 26th World Volunteer Conference in 2020, the largest gathering of experts and practitioners.

Commenting on the UAE's participation in the conference, Minister Buhumaid said, "The UAE is a pioneer of volunteerism in the world, and our presence at the World Volunteer Conference represents a great opportunity to share volunteer experiences and discuss ways of cooperation with other countries."

She emphasised that the delegation's presence in the conference is part of the national volunteer strategy and is aimed to promote volunteering and encourage communication between governmental and private institutions to spread the culture of volunteerism The delegation will participate in discussions and workshops on volunteering and its importance to the individual and society. A Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, will be signed between the Emirates Foundation and IAVE to exchange knowledge and volunteer experiences and involve Emirati youth in global volunteer programmes.

"The UAE has become a role model for volunteerism, thanks to the generous principles laid down by the our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and our wise leadership," said Maytha Al Habsi, CEO of Emirates Foundation.

The conference, which will conclude tomorrow is held under the theme, 'Our Responsibility for the Global Future'.
