National Champion Ijazur Rehman will represent the country in the 54th Qubica Bowling World Cup, scheduled to be held at Sami's Town, Las Vegas, USA from November, 4-11.

Ijaz, who is also secretary Pakistan Tenpin Blowing Federation Thursday said that recently he had undergone a 15-day training in Thailand and was confident to put up a good show in the event where 10-pin bowlers with national champions from as many as 90 countries would by vying to claim the crown.

"I've trained hard in Thailand and improved my skills and techniques a lot. I'm sure this time I'll perform better," he told APP.

It will be for the third time that a Pakistani will feature in the coveted bowling event. Ijaz represented Pakistan in the championship for the first time in 2015 and finished 48th, while Ahmer Abbas Saldera, who featured last year in the event got 43rd position.

Ijaz said that Pakistani bowlers would also participate in the World Men Championship, scheduled to be held in Hong Kong, from November 23 to December, 5, this year.

"We are trying our best to promote this game in Pakistan and besides sending our bowlers abroad we are arranging hosts of events in the country," he added.

He said that Pakistan Open�Tenpin Bowling Championship would commence at the newly-constructed 12-lane Leisure Citi Bowling Club, Jinnah Park, Rawalpindi from October 26.

"Around 500 bowlers from across the country will chip in various categories of this championship," he said adding that the event would carry a huge prize purse.

"Bowlers will be seen in action in professional singles, masters, doubles, trios, team event, doubles, mix doubles, sports journalists, ladies singles and under-15 category," he said.
