Russia, Uzbekistan May Ink Contract For NPP Construction In Spring - Rosatom

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th October, 2018) Russia and Uzbekistan may sign a contract on the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in the Central Asian country in spring 2019, Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom told Sputnik.

"It will be a historic victory, if [the contract is signed] in spring," Likhachev said.

Moscow and Tashkent concluded an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the NPP in Uzbekistan under a Russian project in September. The plant is expected to include two powerful units.

During his state visit to Uzbekistan, which will begin later on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will inaugurate this project together with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
