Punjab Healthcare Commission imposes Rs0.2mn fine on homoeopathic doctor, clinic sealed

The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) on Wednesday imposed fine of Rs 0.2 million on a homoeopathic doctor, sealed his clinic and sent his case to the council concerned to proceed against him.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Oct, 2018 ) :The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) on Wednesday imposed fine of Rs 0.2 million on a homoeopathic doctor, sealed his clinic and sent his case to the council concerned to proceed against him.

According to PHC sources, a complainant Gohar Sufiyan took his 6-month-old son Hussain Gohar to Arshad Medical Centre Faisalabad with an eye ailment. There Homoeopathic doctor Muhammad Arshad gave four kinds of eye drops which adversely affected the infection, and an operation was to be carried out at the Allied Hospital Faisalabad.

An inspection team of PHC reported that the medic claimed to treat patients as per homoeopathy, poses as eye, ear, nose and throat expert, and had stocks of allopathic medicines.

The PHC investigation and experts opinion had proven the complaint to be factual. Resultantly, the Centre was sealed, fine worth Rs 0.2 million imposed and the case of Homoeopathic doctor Arshad was sent to the National Council for Homoeopathy for further action.

Meanwhile, the PHC teams also sealed the clinics of more 17 quacks on last day in the city.
