Pompeo To Meet Cavusoglu In Ankara On Wednesday To Discuss Khashoggi Case - State Dept.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th October, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is set to meet with his Turkish counterpart Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara on Wednesday, the State Department said in a press release.

"Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo will travel to Ankara, Turkey on October 17, 2018," the release said on Tuesday. "In Ankara, the Secretary will meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu."

The secretary will commend the decision to release Pastor Andrew Brunson, who was freed on Friday and returned to the United States over the weekend.

Pompeo and Cavusoglu will also exchange views on the case of missing Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Turkey is currently investigating the case, and the State Department is ready to help Ankara in its probe, the release added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pompeo visited Riyadh, where he sat down withCrown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and thanked the Saudi government for providing support for a transparent investigation into the suspected murder of Khashoggi.
