US Senator Demands Ouster of 'Toxic' Saudi Crown Prince For Ordering Khashoggi 'Murdered'

Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman ordered the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi and should be dismissed from his post because he can never be trusted as a world leader, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham charged in an interview on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman ordered the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi and should be dismissed from his post because he can never be trusted as a world leader, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham charged in an interview on Tuesday.

"This guy is a wrecking ball," Graham told Fox news, referring to the Saudi crown prince. "He had this guy [Khashoggi] murdered in a consulate in Turkey ... MBS [Mohammed Bin Salman] is to me toxic. He can never be a world leader on the world stage."

Graham spoke as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Saudi leaders, including King Salman, in an attempt to defuse a crisis over Khashoggi's disappearance two weeks ago after entering a Saudi consulate in Istanbul to obtain a marriage document.

Turkey has said Khashoggi was murdered and his body dismembered by a team of 15 Saudi operatives who flew into the country and exited the same day. The Saudis claim Khashoggi left the building unharmed, however published reports claim that officials in the kingdom are considering issuing a public explanation that the journalist was killed by accident during an 'interrogation."

Graham noted that he had repeatedly defended the US-Saudi alliance on the Senate floor and that he felt personally betrayed by the crown prince.

He also pledged to fight in Congress for sanctions against Saudi Arabia over the Khashoggi murder.
