Second Trump-Kim Summit May Be Held in Europe in Mid-November - Reports

TOKYO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) The second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may be held in the middle of November in Europe, after Trump's visit to France on November 11, Japanese media reported on Tuesday, citing sources in the US government.

According to the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, the government sources believe that the meeting could take place in either Sweden or Switzerland. The place of the meeting will be discussed during bilateral consultations this week, the media outlet added.

The newspaper said that during US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Pyongyang on October 7, the two sides did not mention any specific location for the meeting, however, the North Korean side reportedly wanted to hold the summit in what they consider to be a safe place either in Pyongyang or in Panmunjom village on the border separating North and South Korea.

Earlier in October, US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that the second US-North Korea summit was expected to be held "in the next couple of months." Trump, in turn, said that he was considering three or four different locations for the summit.

The first US-North Korea summit was held in Singapore in June, where the two leaders affirmed their commitment to reach a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
