Two Powerful Tremors Registered Near New Caledonia - US Geological Survey

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) Two powerful earthquakes occurred on Tuesday in the Pacific Ocean near the coast of New Caledonia, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The first 6.3-magnitude tremor occurred at 00:28 GMT, 170 kilometers (105 miles) southeast of the town of Tadine. The epicenter was located at the depth of 10 kilometers.

The second 6.4-magnitude tremor occurred at 01:03 GMT, 167 kilometers east of Tadine. The epicenter was also located at the depth of 10 kilometers.

Along with these earthquakes, four more tremors with the over 5.0 magnitude occurred in the area.

There are no reports about any damages or victims caused by the earthquakes.
