Punjab Govenror Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Monday said the country needed stringent measures and hard decisions to put the economy on right track.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Oct, 2018 ) :Punjab Govenror Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Monday said the country needed stringent measures and hard decisions to put the economy on right track.
Talking to a 70-member delegation of Pakistan Federation Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here, he said the wrong economic policies of the previous government had caused great setback to economy and losses to the business community.
The FPCCI delegation was led by its Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik while FPCCI office-bearers from across the country were present.
The Punjab governor said the government would fulfill its promises with the masses, adding revolutionary improvements would be brought about in the country's economy under the able leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Ch Sarwar said the government would take the business community along for the betterment of the economy, adding all problems faced by the business community would be resolved in consultation with them.
The governor said the government would provide suitable environment to industrialists so that they could play their role in improving economy through more and more investments.
Taking credit for the award of GSP plus status to the 96 percent Pakistani products in the European Union markets, the governor said the previous government had failed to draw the maximum benefit from the facility due to poor policies.
He said the government had breathed a new life into the textile industry by bringing gas prices at par with other provinces, adding the textile industry would flourish now.
He said new types of seeds would be introduced in the agriculture sector to get maximum per acre produce of crops, adding that there was need for more investment in fish-farming so that more foreign exchange could be earned through exports.
Sarwar said Clean and Green Pakistan campaign had been launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan, adding that it was initiative of 220 million people of Pakistan and not of a single political party.
Meanwhile, a traders delegation led by Babur Butt called on Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and apprised the Governor of the problems faced by the traders in the city. The Governor assured his full support to the trader representatives.
