ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Oct, 2018 ) :The Accountability Court (AC) of Islamabad on Monday adjourned the hearing of Flagship investment reference against former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif till Tuesday.
AC Judge Arshad Malik, who resumed the hearing of Flagship Investment reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), informed the two sides that the apex court had extended time period last time to complete the trial in the remaining two references.
Nawaz Sharif, who appeared before the court, was allowed to leave the proceedings earlier.
NAB witness Wajid Zia, Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head, while recording his statement, informed the court that the JIT was given limited time to complete its investigation into the corruption allegations against the Sharif family. It was asked to probe whether the former prime minister had assets beyond known sources of his income and from which sources the accused had received money for the Flagship Investment.
Wajid Zia said the JIT was also mandated to find out truth about the letter of Qatri Prince Hammad Bin Jasim and purchasing of the Avenfiled property. The team had collected the documents related to the cases from the Supreme Court, Federal board of Revenue (FBR), Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and other departments.
He said the only reply of mutual legal assistance (MLAs) requests regarding the references was received from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Zia stated that it would take two more days to produce further evidence before the court in the Flagship Investment case. He also submitted the copy of sale agreement of 75% shares of Ahli Steel Mills.
Nawaz's counsel Khawaja Haris objected over the submission of an affidavit of Tariq Shafi by the JIT head, contending that Shafi was neither an accused nor a witness in the case. Moreover, the affidavit was also not verified, he added.
