Ukrainian Foreign Minister Meets With NATO Chief in Brussels - Kiev

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on Monday, the Ukrainian Mission to NATO said.

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th October, 2018) Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on Monday, the Ukrainian Mission to NATO said.

"Ukrainian Foreign Minister P. Klimkin has met with NATO Secretary General J. Stoltenberg at the alliance's headquarters," the mission wrote on Twitter, without providing other details.

In December 2014, the Ukrainian parliament amended its legislation, abandoning the non-bloc status of the state. In June 2016, additional amendments were adopted that make accession to NATO one of the country's foreign policy goals. Ukraine also plans to ensure full compatibility of its armed forces with NATO requirements by 2020.

NATO has repeatedly stressed that Ukraine needs to implement a wide range of reforms before it could pursue membership of the bloc.
