Rumors About Possible Dismissal of Kremlin Aide Surkov Coming From Ukraine - Expert

Rumors about the dismissal of Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov are untrue and are coming from Ukraine, Alexey Chesnakov, a political expert close to the Kremlin and director of the Center for Current Politics, told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th October, 2018) Rumors about the dismissal of Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov are untrue and are coming from Ukraine, Alexey Chesnakov, a political expert close to the Kremlin and director of the Center for Current politics, told Sputnik.

"As for Surkov himself, he works as before. In spring rumors emerged that he might leave. I will not conceal from you that myself had doubts whether he would continue his work in the presidential administration. But then it has become clear that this was not the case. Moreover, now we can see that he is dealing with new tasks," Chesnakov said.

He added that the rumors about Surkov are spread mainly by Ukrainian media.

"One can easily see that the source of the absolute majority of these rumors is the Ukrainian propaganda, and the Primary distributors are media outlets controlled by Kiev. Surkov is regarded by Ukraine with undisguised irritation and apprehension ... Kiev wants Surkov to leave, and therefore they are trying to find at least something to confirm this. When it is impossible to find anything, they invent it," the expert noted.
