Congo Health Ministry Reports 5 More Ebola Deaths, UN Staffer Infected

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th October, 2018) Deaths from the Ebola virus disease in Congo have gone up to 95 after five more fatalities were confirmed as related to the new outbreak, the African nation's health ministry said Friday.

"Out of the 170 confirmed cases, 95 have died and 54 have been cured," the ministry said in its daily press release.

A staffer with the UN mission has been hospitalized after testing positive for the hemorrhagic fever, the authority said. The plumber worked at an operational hub in the northeastern town of Beni near Uganda.

The World Health Organization raised its risk assessment for Ebola spreading to "very high" in late September after an Ebola case was registered near the Congolese border with Uganda.
