US Must Halt Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia if Riyadh Murdered Khashoggi - Senator Feinstein

The United States must end its support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen if evidence emerges that Riyadh killed Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul, US Senator Dianne Feinstein said in a press release on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) The United States must end its support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen if evidence emerges that Riyadh killed Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul, US Senator Dianne Feinstein said in a press release on Friday.

"If he was murdered inside of Saudi Arabia's diplomatic facility, not only would it be a clear violation of the Vienna Convention, it would also be a dramatic and unacceptable escalation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's war on dissidents. If the government of Saudi Arabia is found to be complicit, the United States must immediately halt all arms sales and end our support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen," Feinstein said in the release.

Saudi Arabia has been one of the United States' closest allies in the middle East, but it is time to re-evaluate that relationship, Feinstein said.

Khashoggi has been missing since October 2, when he visited the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul to obtain documents needed for his upcoming marriage. Turkish authorities reportedly say they have evidence that Khashoggi was murdered at the consulate, but Saudi Arabia has denied the allegations.
