ANKARA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) Russian nationals Rashid Enikeev and Elana Rakhmanova were detained in Turkey and the Russian embassy in Ankara is looking into the circumstances of their detention, the press officer of the embassy, Irina Kasimova, told Sputnik.

On Thursday, the DHA news agency reported that Turkish police had detained seven suspected members of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia), including two Russian nationals Rashid Enikeev and Elana Rakhmanova, in the central Kayseri province.

"We confirm the fact of the detention of the two mentioned Russian citizens, we are figuring out other circumstances," Kasimova said.

The embassy had requested the Turkish authorities to provide the Russian side with detailed information about the detention of Enikeev and Rakhmanova, the press officer added.

According to the DHA, Enikeev is on the Interpol wanted list on terrorism charges, including the illegal transportation and settlement of widows of Syrian militants in Turkey.
