The launch of the Progress cargo spacecraft, scheduled for October 31, is not going to be delayed now despite the accident with the Soyuz spacecraft, a source in the rocket and space industry told Sputnik on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th October, 2018) The launch of the Progress cargo spacecraft, scheduled for October 31, is not going to be delayed now despite the accident with the Soyuz spacecraft, a source in the rocket and space industry told Sputnik on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, an accident occurred during the liftoff of a Soyuz-FG launch vehicle carrying the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft with two new members of the International Space Station crew on board, a Russian cosmonaut and a US astronaut. The crew has safely returned to Earth in a jettisoned escape capsule.

"The decision to launch the Progress cargo spacecraft on October 31 has been made. Next week, a team of the experts from the Energia [rocket and space corporation] will arrive at the Baikonur Cosmodrome and start to preparations for the launch," the source said.

Earlier in the day, a source at the Baikonur Cosmodrome told Sputnik that all Russian manned launches would be suspended until clarification of the causes of the Thursday incident.
