Russia Launches Criminal Probe into Soyuz Spacecraft Failed Launch

Investigators have opened a criminal case on violation of safety regulations of construction work following the Soyuz spacecraft incident on Thursday, Russia's Investigative Committee said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th October, 2018) Investigators have opened a criminal case on violation of safety regulations of construction work following the Soyuz spacecraft incident on Thursday, Russia's Investigative Committee said.

Earlier in the day, an accident occurred during the liftoff of a Soyuz-FG launch vehicle carrying the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft with two new members of the International Space Station crew on board, a Russian cosmonaut and a US astronaut. The crew has safely returned to earth in a jettisoned escape capsule.

"The investigators are currently inspecting the Baikonur launch complex and seizing the relevant documentation. They are trying to establish the causes and those responsible for the emergency situation," the Investigative Committee said in its WhatsApp blog.
