Lavrov Says Agreed With Andorran Foreign Minister to Start Visa Liberalization Talks

Russia and Andorra agreed on Wednesday to launch consultations to prepare a treaty on abolition of mutual visa requirements, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th October, 2018) Russia and Andorra agreed on Wednesday to launch consultations to prepare a treaty on abolition of mutual visa requirements, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"Russians are not required to have visas to [visit Andorra]. A visa is required to enter France or Spain, and then no visa is required for Russians to visit Andorra. Andorrans, in contrast, travel to Russia on visas. Today, we have agreed to try to address this injustice and launch consultations to prepare an agreement on abolishing mutual visa requirements," Lavrov said, following talks with his Andorran counterpart Maria Ubach Font in Moscow.

He expressed hope that Russia and Andorra could implement the agreement quite fast.

Andorra is a landlocked microstate in Europe. Even though it is not a member of the Schengen Area, the only way to enter the country is via either the territory of Spain or France, as the nation does not have airports.
