Romanian Man Accused Of Leading Global Cyber Fraud Ring Extradited To US - Justice Dept.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th October, 2018) A Romanian national accused of orchestrating an international cyber fraud ring has been extradited to the United States to face charges, the US Department of Justice said in a press release.

"Romeo Vasile Chita, 38, was charged in a four-count indictment unsealed in US District Court in Cleveland, Ohio," the release said on Tuesday.

The Justice Department noted that Chita has been accused of money laundering, racketeering, wire fraud conspiracy and conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit services.

Chita stole more than $4 million after gaining unauthorized access to people's personal information and their bank accounts, the Justice Department explained.

The indictment includes eight other individuals who were operating with Chita, two of which have been transported from Romania and are presently in Cleveland, Ohio.
