CJP seeks strong apology from Punjab CM, ex-IGP, Ahsan Jamil in DPO transfer case

Expressing dissatisfaction over the replies submitted in the case, the CJP said that he was amazed to read Punjab CM Usman Buzdar’s reply.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 8th October, 2018) The Supreme Court on Monday asked Punjab Chief minister Usman Buzdar, Khawar Maneka’s friend Ahsan Jamil Gujjar and former Punjab IGP Kaleem Imam to submit a written apology in the court in the Pakpattan DPO transfer case.

A hearing on the case pertaining to the transfer of Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal was held in the Supreme Court today. A three-member SC bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar held the hearing of the case.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the replies submitted in the case, the CJP said that he was amazed to read Punjab CM Usman Buzdar’s reply.

In a sarcastic tone, he said, “How a new Pakistan would be built if we initiate proceedings according to Article 62-1(f). Is this the government that is going to deliver a Naya Pakistan?”

“Buzdar will remain the chief minister for as long as the PTI government lasts, is this Naya Pakistan?” he said.

“Is the DPO too dirty that the chief minister did not want to see his face?” the CJP remarked.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan claims that Buzdar will continue to serve as the chief minister in the PTI government. The court will decide if Buzdar remains the chief minister. We are trying to impose rule of law and you are defying it,” he further remarked.

“Do you lawyers want such rule of law? When it comes to rule of law, I don’t consider any leader. Tell the prime minister about my dislike. I am fed up of this man in five days.”

The Punjab advocate general requested the court to look into the case from another angle; to which, the CJP said that the facts will remain the same no matter, how we see the case.

The Punjab advocate general said that the matter was sensitive that’s why Ahsan Jamil Gujjar, the husband of first lady’s friend Farah Khan, talked to the Punjab CM.

The CJP said that the CM did not hold meeting, in fact he called a private person for meeting.

Addressing the advocate general, the CJP said that you are making allegations about an honest inquiry officer. “I will inquire into the matter myself. We can also form a JIT if you want. You have made personal allegations on the inquiry officer. You are taking it easy,” he said.

“Nobody even bothered to express a little embarrassment in the court. Was the DPO too filthy that he was transferred over night?” the CJP asked.

To this, former Punjab IG Kaleem Imam expressed embarrassment in the court. He said that I leave myself to the mercy of court.

The CJP then asked the chief minister, Ahsan Jamil Gujjar and former Punjab IGP Kaleem Imam to submit a written apology in the court. The court also ordered Gujjar to seek an apology in strong words.
