UPDATE - Latvia's Harmony Party Wins Election With Over 19% After All Votes Counted - Commission

RIGA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th October, 2018) The Latvian pro-minority Social Democratic Party "Harmony" (SDPS), which is mainly supported by the country's Russian-speaking population, came first in the parliamentary election receiving 19.80 percent of votes, the Latvian Election Commission said after counting 100 percent of bulletins.

On Saturday, Latvia held a parliamentary election, with 16 political parties competing for mandates in the 100-seat Saeima.

The populist KPV LV received 14.25 percent of votes, while the New Conservative Party received 13.59 percent.

The pro-EU Movement For!, the All For Latvia far-right national alliance and the Greens and Farmers Union received 12.04 percent, 11.01 percent and 9.91 percent respectively.

The liberal New Unity gained 6.69 percent of votes and passed the parliamentary threshold. Other parties failed to receive the necessary five percent to receive parliamentary mandates.
