MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th October, 2018) US State Secretary Mike Pompeo on Sunday arrived in Pyongyang for talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the South's media reported.
Pompeo's plane landed in the North's capital before noon, the Yonhap news agency said. He flew there from Japan where he tried to assure Tokyo of continued US support.
In Pyongyang, the top US diplomat will discuss ways for ridding North Korea of its nuclear arsenal and outlooks for a new summit between Chairman Kim and US President Donald Trump.
Pompeo will fly to South Korea later on Sunday to brief its president and foreign minister on the results of the talks, before travelling on to Beijing for a meeting with Chinese officials.
